Simley Wrestlers Win Section Championship
The Simley High School boys wrestling team won its section championship this weekend. They get a shot at a state title next month.

BOYS WRESTLING Simley won the Section 4AA championship Saturday in South St. Paul. They turned in a dominant performance, beating Minnehaha Academy/DeLaSalle in the quarterfinals (84-0), St. Paul Harding in the semis (77-0), and South St. Paul for the title (75-0).
The state championship is March 1 at the Xcel Center in St. Paul.

This Friday and Saturday, Simley is hosting the Section 4AA individual tournament. The action starts at 5:30pm on Friday and 12:00pm on Saturday.

BOYS HOCKEY Simley faces off with South St. Paul in round 2 of the section playoffs on Thursday at Aldrich Arena in Maplewood. Simley (4-6-1) finished the regular season two places behind South St. Paul (6-8-0).
GIRLS BASKETBALL Simley rolled on this week, beating Mahtomedi and Tartan. Shauna Horsch had 15 points and Aejah Lockett logged 14 in a Tuesday romp over Mahtomedi (35-58). Conference scoring leader Takendra Elbert’s 36 points fell short, as the Spartans had five players in double figures to beat Tartan 73-61 on Friday. Simley (9-3) remains tied with Hill-Murray, two games behind top-ranked Richfield.
BOYS BASKETBALL The Spartans had a tough week, playing the best of the Classic Suburban Conference. After falling to second ranked St. Thomas Academy on Tuesday (45-67), they lost to number one Tartan on Friday (79-65). Simley remains stuck at one win for the season, but can improve when it faces Hill-Murray and bottom-dwelling South St. Paul this week.
BOYS SWIMMING AND DIVING Simley competes in the varsity sections on Thursday.
