Sports Roundup: Simley Enters the Heart Of Fall Sports Season
Spartans compete in a full slate of post-Labor Day contests last week.

Simley High School athletic teams returned to competition following the Labor Day holiday, playing a full schedule against opponents over the first week of school.
Girls Soccer
Back-to-back Classic Suburban Conference victories at home last week boosted the Simley girls soccer team's record to 4-2-1 this fall.

The Spartans blew out Richfield 10-1 last Tuesday before one-upping North St. Paul 3-2 on Thursday.
Individual statistics for the North win were not made available. Heading into that game, Jill Richgels led Simley with eight goals, while Sarah Luby had five goals. Goalkeeper Kelly Chandler had 21 saves in two-and-a-half games of work for the Spartans.

Boys Soccer
The Simley boys soccer team went winless in its first week back from holiday as the Spartans tied Holy Angels, 0-0, last Tuesday before falling 2-1 at St. Thomas Academy on Thursday.
Simley entered this week with a 4-1-2 record, still led by Joe Trenzeluk's two goals on the year.
Volleyball
Going 2-for-2 on the day, the Simley volleyball team finished fifth in the Irondale Tournament on Saturday, gaining its first two wins of the season to improve to 2-5.
The Spartans, who were swept in three games against Hill-Murray in conference play last Thursday, lost their first two matches at Irondale after falling to Park Center and Woodbury.
However, Simley rebounded to defeat FAIR Downtown and Lakeview Christian in two-game sweeps to claim fifth. Individual statistics were not made available.
Girls Swimming and Diving
The Simley girls swimming and diving team finished fourth in the Packer Invitational in South St. Paul last Saturday. Individual statistics were not made available.
