There are about 24.1 million adults that are diagnosed with heart disease in the in the United States every year. My dad's family is a part of this statistic. This is one of the many reasons why I chose The Twin Cities Heart Walk as one of my service projects. This is one of those walks that I have always wanted to do because of my family history. Doing this walk meant the world to me not only because my dad suffers from heart disease but for my grandfather, whom I never met because he passed away many years before I was born. It may have been 38 degrees outside on May 4th (and one may have wanted to stay under the covers and be warm) but this walk felt amazing to do with my dad and two of my closest friends. I am so glad I had the chance to do this walk. It has now become something my dad and I are planning to do every year, no matter what the weather is like that morning.
