This road leads to City Hall

I'd like to talk about first impressions and Barbara Avenue. Truthfully, I'm saddened that the road that leads to our beautiful City Hall, Police and Fire Departments looks so bad. It's a bumpy, multiply patched street that is just, to put it plainly, embarrassing. From the city council meetings that I have been to this year, the overall theme has been about the growth and prosperity of our city. What can the city do to interest and entice new businesses, individuals and families to move here. It all comes down to first impressions. What kind of impression do you think Barbara Avenue makes for prospective business owners, individuals and families who drive up to our City Hall for the first time? Hopefully, they will be so dazzled by the sleek, clean, modern architecture of the City Hall building, that they won't notice the road they're driving on. Frankly, I don't see how they can miss it. Seeing City hall for the first time is like meeting Inver Grove heights for the first time. That first impression is an important one. Will the way Barbara Avenue look change the interest of those who come to live and do business here? Maybe not - but all it takes is one. It is said, "You never get a second chance to make a good first impression" How many chances are we willing to loose? Resurface Barbara Avenue properly.
