One of the largest, evangelistic, outreach ministries is First Baptist Church's Vacation Bible Time. This huge event for children takes place June 25th - 27th and is conducted from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. that Tuesday through Thursday. Children ages 4 years old through the ninth grade are qualified to attend. The groups are divided into primaries, juniors, and teenagers. Each group rotates throughout the evening between a supervised classroom time, learning the Bible, an exciting carnival game time, and a program time generally held in the gymnasium.
Dozens of workers volunteer and provide support throughout the week to help in various responsibilities. Transportation is provided through the use of several buses that pick children up all over the Twin Cities southern metro area including Rosemount, Apple Valley, Eagan, Farmington, Burnsville, Lakeville, and Inver Grove Heights. You can simply request transportation each evening by calling the church office at 651.423.2271.
The ministry to children is important at First Baptist Church. It is evidenced by the fact that Vacation Bible Time has taken place every summer since 1967, passing the forty-year mark. Vacation Bible Time itself has made its mark as we have seen thousands of young people come to know the Lord Jesus as their Savior. From that first year with seventy-seven kids to now literally hundreds of children who attend each summer, this program is special to our children, and the heartbeat of what First Baptist Church is all about reaching people for Christ.
