VIDEO: Hooting and Crowing at the Dakota County Fair

4-H members held a bird-call contest on Tuesday at the fair.

If you walked past the 4-H building at the Dakota County Fair on Tuesday, you might have wondered whether they added a zoo to their indoor exhibits upon hearing the odd assortment of bird chatter coming from inside. The birds, however, weren't real birds—the sounds were calls made by young contestants of the 4-H bird call contest. The Cloverbuds Club of 4-H hosted the contest, and participants' ages ranged from 5 to 10. The bird noises ranged, too, from clucking hens to hooting owls. While the program was called a contest, everyone walked away with a ribbon and a smile.
