VIDEO: Lawmaker Reads Dr. Seuss to Hilltop Elementary School Students

As part the National Education Association's Read Across America program, Rep. Joe Atkins read to assembled students.

District 39B Rep. Joe Atkins read Dr. Seuss' "My Many Colored Days" in front of hundreds of students at Hilltop Elementary School on Monday morning.

The reading on Monday at Hilltop was a precursor to the National Education Association's Read Across America Day, which takes place on March 2, the day of Dr. Seuss' birthday.

Atkins joked with his young audience before diving into the reading, saying that Hilltop was his least favorite school when he was a student at Salem Hills Elementary, because Hilltop sports teams always beat Salem Hills. The punchline of his joke was met with cheers by his very enthusiastic audience.
