The squad and its boosters will have their annual taco feed and meat raffle at Gallagher-Hansen VFW Post 295 on Saturday, March 31.

The Simley High boys lacrosse team and boosters will have their annual taco feed and meat raffle from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 31, at Gallagher-Hansen VFW Post 295, 111 South Concord Exchange, South St. Paul.

Simley’s lacrosse program became a varsity sport in 2007. That followed two years of being a club team, formed by then-Simley students Mitch and Sam Teisberg.

Participation in team activities has been steady for the last several years. Roughly, 50 players in grades 9-12 make up the junior varsity and varsity rosters right now.

Entering their third year of leading the squads are varsity coach Garnet Asmundson and junior varsity coach Byron Enos.

Simley’s first game of the season will be April 9 at Farmington. The junior varsity game starts at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity at 6:30.
