VIEWFINDER: Simley High School Band Concert

More than 300 community members attended the high school band concert Monday night. Patch has plenty of photos.

The Simley High School bands held their winter concert at the high school auditorium Monday evening.

The symphonic band, wind ensemble and the percussion ensemble are all under the direction of Rufino Ochoada. More than 300  attended the performance.

The  symphonic band played “Toccata” by Monteverdi, “Legends in the Mist” by Michael Sweeney, and “Invicta” by James Swearingen.

The wind ensemble played “Scherzo” (from symphony no. 9) by Beethoven,  “Carnival of Venice” by Giulio Briccialdi, “Shepherd’s Hey” by Grainger, and “Variations on a Korean folk song” buy John Barnes Chance.

The percussion ensemble played “Fortress of the Prince” by Chris Brooks, and “Fresh Trash”  by Ed Argenziano.
