Simley High School heavyweights got a chance to shake hands with a political heavyweight on Wednesday.

The Simley wrestling team was presented with the Governor’s Cup award by Gov. Mark Dayton at the State Capitol on Wednesday.  The teams from Jackson County Central (Class A), Apple Valley High School (Class AAA) and Frazee High School also received similar awards from the governor.

Before distributing the awards, Dayton made a brief speech acknowledging the great efforts each team put forth to obtain a state title.  Each team then had the opportunity to meet with the Governor and have their pictures taken as they accepted the award from him. This is Simley’s fourth consecutive state title.
