you control your life and everything in it!

There has been several posts on Facebook regarding  people who are going door to door and trying to either sell something, give away something or do something and it's bugging folks out. Questions have arisen as to whether or not it is legitimate. Here's some advice: "if it doesn't feel right, don't do it!" You are in control, it's YOUR house, YOUR door, YOUR life! You do NOT have to open that door for anyone if you choose not to. I know, we are all "Minnesota Nice," and thus to open that door is just second nature! What if it is someone in need of help and we refused and the worst situation happened...then we'd feel just awful! However, you also do not need to be harassed to buy anything or to give out any information. Another good hint: teach your children how to answer the door also. Teach them about responisbility vs. strangers. Let them know that not everyone has their best interests at heart. Always ask for ID. If you are not expecting a delivery, or if someone wants to do a fast sale on you, get their name as well as the company name in writing, make sure the ID matches the person. If you still feel uneasy, just ask for the information in writing and tell the solicitor that you need time to think it over. Don't fall for a fast talker who says that time is of the essence. Oh really? Whose essence? Remember...YOU are in control! It's YOUR house! You are not as gullible as some may try to have you believe. Your roof will not cave in, your driveway will still be there and the paint will not suddenly peel off the siding of your house. If the solicitor seems overly pushy, close the door, lock it and call 911. That is what our police are for. The whole point is that YOU remain safe. Remember...YOU are in control...you have the power to just say NO!
