The 'What Ifs' of Life

Financial planning is a continuous process and the main focus should be looking at the "what ifs" of your life

For years, I would help my clients develop a financial plan and put it in a fancy three-ring binder. 

By the time we completed the plan, my clients were exhausted with the process. So, I beleive planning is continuous process and the main focus should be looking at the "what ifs" of your life. 

Now I simply use a notepad and our contact management system to help clients with their planning and by looking at the "whats ifs" of life. Some of them include:

  • What if I lose my job?
  • What if my spouse dies?
  • What if I get a divorce?
  • What if I die?
  • What if I get pregnant?
  • What if my parents die?

These are just a few of these "what if" questions that could come about in your life. Financial planning is being prepared. If you walk through some of these questions and have a plan or have throught through what you would do, you will be much more prepared and happy in your life.
