Celebrate America’s Independence at the Cottagewood General Store
The 4th of July is a very special holiday for the Cottagewood USA community so we make sure we do it right. Cottagewood 4th of July Celebration co-chairs Amy and Chad Johnson are once again at the helm organizing a team of about 50 volunteers to put together one heck of a 4th of July celebration. The red, white & blue fun begins on July 3rd with our Kid’s Bike Decorating Event. We supply the decorations and kids are encouraged to use their patriotic creativity to bedazzle their bikes, strollers, scooters and wagons. Then on July 4th, we’ll gather at 10 AM to recite the Pledge of Allegiance followed up by our traditional Kid’s Parade led by the Boy Scouts and our own Statue of Liberty complete with Excelsior Fire Department/Deephaven Police Department escort and popsicles for parade participants.
Immediately following the parade Children’s Park becomes a carnival grounds where kids play games for prizes, participate in a watermelon seed spitting contest, go bouncy crazy in a giant inflatable, fish in the duck pond and test their throwing arm at the dunk tank. There will also be face painting, fresh cotton candy, a yummy grilled hot dog meal, lots of ice-cold root beer and an assortment of prizes to be won in our 4th of July raffle. Last year 45 lucky people walked away with some incredible prizes thanks to the generosity of individuals and local businesses who love and support the Cottagewood General Store.
You don’t need to live in Cottagewood to participate. Everyone is welcome! So bring your kids, your grandkids, your pets and your patriotism to what we think is one of the finest Americana experiences in the USA and celebrate our country’s independence in the heart of Cottagewood USA. Plan to arrive early to buy raffle tickets, wristbands for the carnival and so you don’t miss a moment of the patriotic fun!
