
On May 7 resiliency expert Dr. Steven Southwick will visit The Marsh: A Center for Balance and Fitness to present "Resilience: How to Bounce Back from Loss and Continue to Grow." Dr. Southwick is co-author of "Resilience: The Science of Mastering Life's Greatest Challenges" and he is a Professor of Psychiatry, PTSD and Resilience at Yale University School of Medicine and at the Yale Child Study Center. He has worked more than two decades with trauma survivors and is one of the nation's foremost experts on the topic of resilience. In his presentation at The Marsh he'll discuss effective coping strategies used by highly resilient individuals to deal with, overcome and even grow from adversity and will also discuss recent research that supports the use of these strategies, and practical approaches for increasing one's own resilience.
