Falling Tree at U.S. Forest Service Campground in N. Minn. Kills Wayzata Man
Douglas Raymond Harris, 59, died May 16, 2013 at Birch Lake Campground near Ely, MN, according to news reports.

A Wayzata man working at a U.S. Forest Service campground near Ely, MN died May 16, 2013 from injuries after a tree fell on him, the Duluth News Tribune reported.
Douglas Raymond Harris was apparently in the process of trying to drop the tree at Birch Lake Campground in the Superior National Forest when it "just came down wrong," Lake County Sheriff Carey G. Johnson told the Ely Echo newspaper (in a print-only article).
Harris was working at the north end of the campground, the Echo reported. He was a forest service contract employee, according to the News Tribune. After being taken to Ely-Bloomenson Community Hospital in Ely, he was pronounced dead.

Minnesota workplace safety officials were part of the investigation of Harris' death, the Star Tribune reported.
