Mound Stays Pefect, Tops Orono 3-0 in Softball
Whitehawks Kimmy Hutchins throws three hitter, Orono errors contribute to loss
Mound-Westonka softball coach Dan Krause said he felt a mix of excitement and nervousness heading into Tuesday’s matchup with rival Orono. Turns out the White Hawks had things under control.
Mound-Westonka continued its mix of solid offense and strong pitching in defeating the Wright County Conference powerhouse Spartans 3-0. The win keeps the White Hawks (3-0, 3-0 WCC) unbeaten on the season.
Kim Hutchins picked up the win by giving up three hits and striking out 11. She walked one in picking up the shutout.

Offensively, Brooklyn Pouti went 1-for-2 in the game with an RBI and a run, Allie Brady went 1-for-2 with a run and Hutchins, Jenna Hoogeveen and Erin Rasmussen each had a hit in the game.
Orono (0-1, 0-1) fell in its first contest of the season and will travel to Annandale on Thursday for a 4:30 p.m. contest.

The White Hawks, who are outscoring their opponents 24-2 this season, will face Waconia on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
