OFFICE AT NIGHT - Nimbus Theatre

Hot and Bothered. Harold and Veronica, Sondra, Margery and Gill spend an unforgettable evening together in the office at night.

Edward Hopper was a master at depicting isolationism, loneliness and sexual subtext in America. “Office at Night” is a tragicomedy that develops a story between two depicted figures and adds several new characters, creating multiple levels of intrigue and a plethora of double-entendres. Nothing is as it seems.

“Office at Night” (1940) can be seen at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis and is his only work featured in the twin cities area. The American Realist is best known for his work “Nighthawks” (1942, Art Institute of Chicago.) Hopper and his wife, Jo, were frequent patrons of theatre and it was an inspiration for many of his paintings.
