Orono Football's Late Lead Doesn't Hold Up

The Spartans allowed 22 unanswered points on Saturday, fall to BSM 36-32

The Orono football team’s season came to a painful end on Saturday, as the Spartans allowed Benilde-St. Margaret’s to score 22 unanswered fourth quarter points in a 36-32 loss in the Section 6AAAA semifinals.

The Spartans (3-7) came within minutes of an upset in St. Louis Park, but the Red Knights (5-4) found a way to advance. BSM faces Spring Lake Park for the section title on Friday.

Orono built its lead early with a three-yard touchdown run by Grant Schoen and a seven-yard run by Zach Grochowski—giving the Spartans a 14-0 lead.
