Power's Back on, But Wayzata Homeowner Sees Smoke from Circuit Box
Electrical service returned to the neighborhood but brought emergency responders to one home.
(Reporting for this post by Patch Editor Jay Corn.)
In a Wayzata neighborhood glad to have power restored Tuesday, one homeowner faced a new problem: a smoking circuit box.
Although there was no fire, the homeowner (who didn't want to give her name) said she called the fire department just after 1 p.m. out of concern about smoke in the home.
"I wish you could just call half a department," the woman said. "But there was smoke, and you just don't mess around with that."
The incident on the 600 block of Hillside in Wayzata, about a half mile from Lake Minnetonka, brought out vehicles from the Long Lake and Wayzata fire departments and the Wayzata Police Department. An ambulance from North Memorial Medical Center was also dispatched.
At 2 p.m. Xcel Energy arrived on the scene.
The homeowner praised the professionalism and quick response of the fire fighters.
There was no significant structural damage to the residence, which was built in 1930 and is valued at just under $1 million. Firefighters began clearing the scene at around 2:10 p.m.
