Local athletic teams dove into their post-Labor Day schedules on Tuesday as several squads from Wayzata, Mound Westonka and Orono returned to competition on the first day of school.
Wayzata Girls Tennis
The Wayzata girls tennis team improved to 6-0 on the season with a 4-3 defeat of Eden Prairie on Tuesday in the Lake Conference opener.

Lucia Solis and Caitlin Eichten won in singles competition, with Ali Heiring/Carol Coutinho and Haley Nichols/Hallie Koehn claiming victories in doubles matches to clinch the win.
Wayzata Volleyball

A four-game match loss (25-22, 23-25, 15-25, 22-25) at No. 1-ranked Bloomington Jefferson on Tuesday dropped the third-ranked Wayzata volleyball team to 2-1 on the year.
Toni Okuyemi leads the Trojans with 158 kills through three matches, with Julia Doyle leading the team in assists (405) and aces (23), with Lauren Houg's 146 digs pacing the squad.
Wayzata Girls Soccer
The No. 2-ranked Wayzata girls soccer team tied seventh-ranked Eden Prairie, 0-0, on the road in the Lake Conference opener on Tuesday.
