Photos: Wayzata Falls to Edina 20-17
Trojans suffer their first loss to an undefeated Edina squad during Friday's homecoming game.
Finding themselves down 13-0, the Wayzata football team surely didn't give up on their chances of defeating Edina in their homecoming game.
In the battle of undefeated squads, Edina started off strong with two field goals and a touchdown. A stalled drive left the Trojans with a field goal to cut the lead to 10, which remained the same as the teams headed into halftime.
The momentum of the game drastically changed as the Trojans blocked and recovered an Edina punt in the endzone, putting them within three of the Hornets.

After some battles for field position, the Wayzata defense pinned the Hornets deep into their own territory. Returning a punt kicked from out of the endzone, Brett Classen ran the ball down to the 1-yard line. The Trojans punched it in, scoring 17 unaswered points to take their first lead of the game.
Just when it looked like the Trojans were going to take charge of the game, pinning the Edina offense back deep in their own territory again, the Hornets struck back. Edina's quarterback Mark Handberg floated a pass over Wayzata's single coverage of Marley Allison, resulting in a 98-yard touchdown play.

Down three points late in the fourth quarter, Wayzata was unable to find any offensive momentum to get within field goal range, giving the team their first loss of the year.
Halftime festivities for this year's homecoming game included introductions of the homecoming court and performances by the cheerleaders, competitive dance team and the marching band.
Wayzata (4-1) will next take on Hopkins (4-2) at home on Oct. 12.
