Williams Leads Wayzata to Win Over Edina
Wayzata's pitching was just too much for the Hornets, shutting down Edina 2-0.
Wayzata's varsity softball team blanked Edina 2-0 Monday afternoon in what was a pitcher's duel at Wayzata High School.
Trojans pitcher Jessica Williams scattered four hits over seven innings en route to a complete game shutout. Edina hurler Cassie Clark was nearly as effective, allowing just four hits and one earned run.
Wayzata took the lead in the bottom of the first, as Steph Kirk scored on a four-base error. Trojans clean-up hitter Kelsey Kliest clinched the game by homering in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Edina managed a mild threat in the top of the sixth, pushing a runner as far as second base with only one out. Williams forced the Hornets into two weak ground ball outs to end the inning, and almost any chance at an Edina comeback.
