Wayzata's Britton Still Alive in State Consolation Semis

After losing his first round match, Dustin Britton rebounded with a win in the consolation bracket

A Wayzata boys tennis player remains alive in the Class AA state consolation bracket after Thursday’s singles competition at the University of Minnesota Baseline Tennis Center.

Sophomore Dustin Britton, who helped the Trojans reach the team state finals on Wednesday, lost his first match Thursday before winning his consolation quarterfinal matchup.

Britton faced a tall order in the first round at the Class AA singles tournament. Britton played former Class AA singles champ Wyatt McCoy of Mounds View. 

Britton played well, but failed to pull off the upset and lost 6-0, 6-2 to McCoy.

After the loss, Britton then faced Jake Anderson of Fergus Falls. Britton won the match 6-2, 6-3 to advance to the consolation semifinals, which will be played at 8 a.m. on June 10 at the University of Minnesota's Baseline Tennis Center.
