A Lovely Day for a Farmers Market

The St. Paul Farmers Market kicked off its midweek market in downtown Lakeville on Wednesday.

If Wednesday afternoon’s weather wasn’t picture perfect for the kickoff of this summer’s midweek farmers market in downtown Lakeville, it was pretty darn close.

Sunny skies and temperatures in the 70s greeted shoppers to the St. Paul Farmers Market in Market Plaza, Holyoke Avenue and  208th Street.

Wednesday’s weather could be considered a makeup for last week’s conditions. The farmers market was scheduled to open for the season on June 12, but inclement weather altered those plans.

Shoppers at this week’s market were treated to a variety of goods, ranging from plants, flowers and vegetables to fresh bread, meat and pet supplies.

The midweek St. Paul Farmers Market will operate, weather permitting, from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Oct. 30. The market also is scheduled to set up at the Lakeville Area Arts Center, Holyoke Avenue and 210th Street, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays through Sept. 14.
