Active Shooter Training to be Held in Lakeville

The Criminal Justice Program at the Lakeville campus of Minnesota School of Business is hosting Response Options’ Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate (ALICE) training, a two day session to be held Monday, May 6 and Tuesday, May 7 on campus at 17685 Juniper Path, Lakeville, MN 55044, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day.

The objectives of the training include:

1. Present truths and statistics regarding Active Shooter events. 
2. Explore Active Shooter profile myths. 
3. Review and evaluate past active shooter situations. 
4. Present the ALICE system advantages. 
5. Liability comparison of teaching proactive vs. passive strategies.

Sergeant Kerry Harris is the instructor of the training and his biography is listed below.

Kerry recently retired from Law Enforcement after 31 years of service to the community of Los Gatos, CA. During his career, Kerry held the positions of Sergeant and SWAT Commander and had experience in Investigations, Training, Patrol and Emergency Management. Kerry is currently the Emergency Manager for the Los Gatos Police Department and instructs in ICS, SEMS and NIMS. Kerry is also a Terrorist Liaison Officer and provides assessments for the community of Los Gatos, CA. Lastly, he is Workplace Violence Instructor and teaches classes around the San Francisco Bay Area.
