Lakeville Business Owner Wins International Honor

The Professional Picture Framers Association (PPFA) has announced that Glenn Renick, owner of Fastframe Expert Picture Framing in Lakeville, has been awarded second place in the 2012 International Print Framing Competition.

The International Framing Competition is an invitational event with finalists qualifying through a year-long system of regional and national contests. Final judging was held at the Mirage Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. PPFA framing competition requires all competitors to start with an identical piece of artwork. The selected image was “Fall Leaf/Blue Sky”, a limited-edition digital photograph by artist Linda Sutton.

Contestants are then evaluated on their ability to create a unique design to best compliment and display the artwork, the implementation of preservation practices to protect the art as if it were priceless, and the quality of workmanship exhibited in the finished piece.

According to Mr. Renick, “True custom framing is a constantly evolving craft requiring ongoing skill development. Competing against the best designers and frame masters helps differentiate our business from the many mass framing shops.”  His award winning designs and idea examples are currently on display at the Fastframe of Lakeville design center in Lakeville’s Argonne Village Center.
