LAKEVILLE, Minnesota—March 13, 2012—Eight Minnesota School of Business students just made a great showing at state. They are moving onto the national tournament in Salt Lake City, Utah. Nationals will take place on April 21–24, 2012. The eight students are Volkan Eroglu, Stephanie Buboltz, Christine Drentlaw, Sara Ptacek, Darren Thomas, Nic Morris, and Mark Thammavongsa.
DECA has a mission of preparing emerging leaders and
entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management. This includes both a high school program and a college program. The Minnesota School of Business Lakeville campus started their chapter this year as part of
their mission of preparing career-focused, community minded graduates for the global workforce.
These eight students have been working hard to be the best in their categories. “Right after I joined DECA, I won first place in Accounting at the first Invitational in Elk River. I recently took fourth place at the MN state competition in Accounting,” stated Sara, student at Minnesota School of Business Lakeville.
