Going off my own world here... seeing my little sister, how she focuses so much on technology is amazing. I'll admit, I can't go more than a long weekend without my cell phone, but the worst thing in the world for middle school children is to take their iPod, cell, and/or internet away.
Children are relying so much on spell check—are they learning to spell, or how to use proper grammar without programs? Yes, in elementary school they drill grammar into our heads, but like anything, if you don’t use it you forget about it.
I’m on Facebook, and so are both of my siblings—one using it more than the other—and I worry about what it does to them. She almost goes through withdrawal when she can’t access Facebook. Heck, she can get Facebook on her phone and iPod, nevermind the computer.

I often ask myself what we would do without technology. I try to step away from most technology when we take trips up north. When there, I try to keep my cell phone off, just checking once a day for messages. I know most kids wouldn’t be able to do that, which is not right in my world. They are the ones who shouldn’t care about technology, or care THAT much about technology…
What happened to the days where kids went outside and played, went to other's houses, or even talked on the phone?
