Building Activity in Lakeville Continues to Improve

The City of Lakeville issued 208 building permits for single-family homes during the first seven months of 2013, compared to 140 for the same period last year.

Building activity in 2013 continues to outpace 2012.

According to figures released by the City of Lakeville’s community and economic development department, the number of construction projects issued permits during the first seven months of this year is far ahead of a year ago.

Here are a few of the numbers at a glance:

• The total valuation of building permits for the first seven months of 2013 was $85,160,142. That compares to $62,987,338 for the same period last year.

• The city issued commercial and industrial building permits with a total value of $8,526,259  during the first seven months of this year. That compares to $8,050,500 for the same period in 2012.

• Building permits for 208 single-family homes valued at $64,578,000 were issued by the city during the first seven months of this year. That compares to 140 permits and a valuation of $40,538,000 during the same period last year.

The construction figures were included in the August edition of Lakeville Business Bullets, which is available on the city’s website.
