Census: Lakeville's Population Jumps
The United States Census Bureau estimates the city's population increased by more than 1,200 from 2011 to last year.

Lakeville’s population continues to grow.
More than 1,200 people moved to the city between 2011 and 2012, according to United States Census Bureau estimates released on Tuesday.
Lakeville’s estimated population stood at 57,342 a year ago, up from 56,115 in 2011.

Lakeville’s neighbors also saw their estimated populations jump from 2011 to 2012. Apple Valley, Burnsville, Rosemount and Farmington all saw triple-figure population increases.

Minnesota's fastest-growing city with a population over 50,000 is Maple Grove, which . Woodbury was a close second, adding 2,535 people in the same period.
The country's fastest-growing community of at least 50,000 people is San Marcos, Texas. From 2011-2012, that city saw a whopping 4.9 percent population increase.
