Cougars Defeat Rosemount In State Consolation Semis

Reid's short-handed breakaway goal decides it for Lakeville South, 3-2, against Irish at Ridder Arena.

Ari Reid's short-handed breakaway goal at 14:55 of the third period gave the Lakeville South girls hockey team a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Rosemount in the state Class AA tournament consolation semifinals on Friday morning at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis.

Cougars goaltender Chelsea Laden made 21 saves in the game, giving up two power-play goals to the Irish, while teammates Mara Post and Dani Buehrer also scored on the man-advantage for South.

It's 25th victory of the season now in the bag, the Cougars advance to close out the 2010-11 season in the consolation title game against either Elk River-Zimmerman or North Wright County at noon on Saturday.
