ON THE LINE
South bounced back in a major way last week, trouncing South Suburban Conference rival Prior Lake, 49-14, for its first win of the season. The Cougars look to ride the wave of momentum to a victory at non-conference foe Edina this week.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
South
Senior running back Jordan Johnson had a game for the ages last week, rushing for four touchdowns and 130 yards in a romp. Two of Johnson's scores were on runs of 33 and 32 yards, to go with a pair of shorter scampers of eight and six yards.
Edina
Edina rushing attack consists of the open-field exploits of junior Kevin Placide, who has ran for 211 yards on 69 carries, combined with the goal-line prowess of classmate Colin Ritter, who has four touchdowns on 11 carries totaling 23 yards. Senior speedster Marley Allison leads the wide receiving corps with 20 catches for 254 yards.
WHO WILL WIN
After being about as wrong as wrong can be by picking against South last week, we're not about to make that same mistake again. Edina is 2-1 and neither of their wins has been that impressive. Cougars will re-enter South Suburban play next week on a two-game winning streak after this one.
