A Rosemount working on a Dakota County Safe and Sober traffic enforcement detail in town this weekend witnessed a crash occur at the intersection of 202nd Street and Iberia Avenue. It was lucky that the officer was present because even with the squad right there at the scene, one of the vehicles involved in the crash attempted to flee. The officer stopped the fleeing vehicle and discovered why the driver had attempted to flee as he appeared to be intoxicated. A field sobriety test was administered to the driver, confirming the officer's suspicion that the driver was under the influence. The officer arrested the driver for multiple traffic charges, including DUI. The suspect was placed in Dakota County Jail, pending formal charges.
