Officer Jai Hanson attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding one evening this past week. The vehicle did not pull over when Officer Hanson pulled up behind it with his emergency lights and siren activated on his marked patrol squad, but actually accelerated and made several lane changes before finally coming to a stop after several blocks. The driver appeared under the influence and Officer Hanson gave the driver a portable breath test which indicated that the driver was under the influence. The driver was arrested and jailed and the vehicle was impounded. The driver explained to Officer Hanson that he didn’t stop or pull over because he thought it was an ambulance, not a squad car.
