An individual with a felony arrest warrant out for him, with multiple charges including domestic assault and violation of a protection order, checked into one of our local hotels under a false name one night last week. Feeling that he was safe from arrest on the warrants, he settled in for the evening. What he did not account for would be Officer Tom Stewart running a registration check on his car in the parking lot and discovering the active felony arrest warrant out for the deceptive hotel guest. Stewart was able to determine which room the subject was in through some investigation work and made contact with the subject. Officer Stewart arrested the subject on the arrest warrant and placed him in Dakota County Jail.
