FIRE REPORT: Have a Safe Fourth of July Celebration

Here is this week's Lakeville Fire Department fire report.

WEEKLY FIRE ACTIVITY:

From June 24 to June 30, the Lakeville Fire Department responded to 22 calls for service: 1 outside rubbish fire, 6 medicals, 2 motor vehicle accidents with injuries, 1 shorted electrical equipment, 1 carbon monoxide incident, 7 false alarms and 4 good intents.

FIRE PREVENTION TIPS:
Fireworks
• Be careful with legal fireworks and be sure to read all instructions before setting them off.

• Never allow children to play with or ignite fireworks. Never try to re-light a “dud” firework (wait 15-20 minutes and then soak it in a bucket of water). Always have water handy (a garden hose or bucket) in case of a malfunction or fire.

• Only light legal fireworks on a smooth, flat surface away from the house, dry leaves, and flammable materials.

• No fireworks, even those novelty items considered legal, can be used on public property.
