Presenting Donors at Blood Drive at Apple Valley Best Buy Receive a $20 Off Purchase of $50 or More .

The American Red Cross is proud to partner with Best Buy Apple Valley to help boost the blood supply prior to the holidays when many donors travel to be with family and are busy with holiday activities. On Dec. 23, from 9 - 5 Best Buy is “giving back” to blood donors who give so much. Each presenting donor at the Best Buy Holiday Blood Drive in Apple Valley will receive a coupon for $20 off a purchase of $50 or more to use that day. This offer is valid only at Best Buy’s Apple Valley, Minnesota location on December 23rd.  Presenting donors will also receive a Red Cross T-Shirt (while supplies last)

“We’re excited to work with Best Buy this holiday season and grateful for their generosity,” said Luther Hagen, North Central Blood Services supporter and founder of Hagen Financial Advantage in Apple Valley. “We hope that while people are shopping for last minute gifts, they will give the gift that doesn’t cost a thing and can help save a life.”

The Best Buy Holiday Blood Drive comes at a crucial time of year for patients who need blood at the 108 hospitals served by the Red Cross in Minnesota, western Wisconsin and eastern South Dakota, as well as patients across the country.

“By rolling up a sleeve and donating, donors have the opportunity to discover the true meaning of giving this holiday season,” said Geoff Kaufmann, CEO of the Red Cross North Central Blood Services Region. “Donors are giving hospital patients the chance to spend more holiday seasons with loved ones.”

Dec. 23 from 9 am. to 5 p.m. at Best Buy, 15300 Cedar Ave., Apple Valley

Blood donors with all types, particularly O negative, A negative and B negative donors are urged to make a donation appointment this holiday season. Rh negative blood types are always in high demand because they can be transfused to both Rh positive and Rh negative patients. Type O negative is the universal blood supply and can be transfused to patients with any blood type.

How to donate blood

Simply download the American Red Cross Blood Donor App, visit redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) to make an appointment or for more information. All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental consent in some states), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
