Lakeville Fire Recommends Flameless Candles
Lakeville Fire Department responded to one trash receptacle fire the week of July 24.

Fire Prevention Tip
Candles may be pretty to look at but they are a growing cause of home fires and home fire deaths. Remember, a candle is an open flame, which means that it can easily ignite any combustible material nearby. The MN State Fire Marshal Investigators determined that the bed and breakfast fire in New Ulm, where six people died, was caused by unattended candles on a front porch.
Never leave a burning candle unattended. Extinguish all candles when you leave the room or go to bed. Almost half of all home fires started by candles begin in the bedroom. NFPA discourages the use of candles in the bedroom and other areas where people may
fall asleep.
