Lakeville North Football Squad Heads to State

The football team is headed to the state tournament.

The Panthers defeated Owatonna 26-7 on Friday in the Section 1AAAAA finals in Lakeville, securing a spot at state. The Panthers are scheduled to face Section 4AAAAA champion Cretin-Derham Hall at the Metrodome on Nov. 11. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.

The Panthers (9-0) opened up a 26-0 lead in the game and never looked back. Brandon Morgan began the scoring with a 25-yard touchdown run in the first quarter to give North a 7-0 lead.

After a second quarter field goal, Trey Heid scored from one yard out to make it 17-0 in the third, and a fourth quarter safety along with a Heid touchdown pass to Morgan made it 26-0. 

Owatonna finished the season 9-2.
