Lakeville North Lake Liners to Jazz It Up At State

Lake Liners dance their way to a second place finish in the highly competitive Section 1AAA dance team tournament at Bloomington

Lakeville North danced its way to the state dance team tournament Saturday with an award-winning performance in the jazz division.

The Lake Liners placed second in the 14-team division to qualify for next weekend's MInnesota State High School League State Tournament at the Target Center. Section 1AAA traditionally fields some of the state's best dance teams and Saturday's meet was no exception.

"I was happy with our performances," said Lakeville North head coach Monica Fredrickson. "Best performances you could ask for.

"You couldn't ask for anything more," Fredrickson added. "They did everything they could."

Competing in the 2011 Section 1AAA Dance Team Tournament at Bloomington Kennedy High School, Eastview of Apple Valley won both the jazz and high kick divisions to advance to next week's state meet.

Lakeville North finished second and Burnsville took third in the jazz division. Apple Valley was second and Faribault third in the high kick category.

The state jazz dance tournament is Friday at the Target Center, with the Class AA/AAA competition beginning at 2:15 p.m.
