Lakeville Officers Discover Driver Allegedly Four-Wheeling in Pond

Here is this week's "Dumb Criminal" feature from Lakeville Police Chief Thomas Vonhof.

(This feature is by Lakeville Police Chief Thomas Vonhof.)

Officers responded to a report of a vehicle in a ditch in a park. Upon arrival, Officer Tom Stewart and Officer Adam Anderson located a vehicle stuck in a pond with the water up to the vehicle's door sill. When the officers approached the vehicle, the driver was attempting to drive out of the pond, with all four wheels spinning in the water, with a blank stare on his face. The officers were able to safely remove the driver from the vehicle. While the officers were helping the driver out of the vehicle, he advised them, “that he wanted to see what his four wheel drive SUV could do”. Officers located damage to sod and small trees where the vehicle went into the pond. The driver, who reported having taken prescription medications before going out driving, was cited for driving into the pond and transported to the hospital for evaluation. The vehicle was towed from the pond.
