Lakeville South Girl's Hockey Team Defeats Farmington to Advance to State

Lakeville South girl's hockey team dominates second and third periods to a final score of 6 to 2 advancing the girls to the state tournament

The No. 1 seeded Lakeville South girl's hockey team faced off with the No. 3 seeded Farmington Tigers in what turned out to be a high scoring and fast paced game. The girls won 6-2 sending them to the state tournament.

There was confusion during the end of the second period when the penalty boxes were filled by three players each team. Officials were unsure of the time the players could leave the penaly boxes and thought some were let out prematurely.

Mara Post scored two goals and Morgan Fritz-Ward had a hat-trick with three goals for the team.

Now seeded No. 3 in the state AA tournament Lakeville South will face off against Hill-Murray at 1 p.m. on Thursday Feb. 24t at the Xcel Energy Center.
