Lakeville: Thirty Percent Bigger by 2040?
Population will rise by 16,446 in Lakeville over the next 27 years, the Metropolitan Council predicts.

Lakeville will grow by nearly one-third between 2010 and 2040, according to regional population forecasts issued this week.
The city's population was 43,128 in 2000, then 55,954 in 2010. The Metropolitan Council estimates there will be 72,400 people living in Lakeville in the year 2040.
The Metropolitan Council released preliminary forecasts for growth in cities throughout the five-county Twin Cities metro area on Wednesday. The forecasts are in three categories: population, households and employment. Look for more posts about Lakeville's figures at Lakeville Patch.
The preliminary figures are meant to allow comment on local level assumptions and data inputs. The Council will formally adopt revised forecasts in April 2014, in conjunction with its Thrive MSP 2040 plan. Click here for a full rundown of the Met Council’s methodology.
