Lakeville Voters Urged To Request Ballot By Tuesday

Mail-in ballots will not count if they are received after Election Day in Minnesota.

LAKEVILLE, MN — Lakeville residents who plan to vote by mail in the Nov. 2 municipal election should request a ballot by Tuesday, according to election officials.

Doing so will leave enough time for officials to send out a ballot and for it to be returned. Mail-in ballots will not count if they are received after Election Day.

Key dates to know for early voting

  • Early voting period: Sept. 17 — Nov. 1
  • Early registration deadline: Tuesday, Oct. 12
  • Suggested deadline to apply for a mail-in ballot: Tuesday, Oct. 19
  • Election Day, deadline to return mail-in ballot: Tuesday, Nov. 2.
    • Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m

Lakeville elections in 2021

A special election is being held for a seat on the Lakeville school board. Four candidates are running for one seat:

  • Diane Wolden
  • Carly Anderson
  • Edward Reuben Spinner
  • Cinta Schmitz

There is also a city park bond question. Here is how that question will read on the ballot:

Approval of City Park Bond Issue

Shall the City of Lakeville be authorized to issue its general obligation bonds in the amount not to exceed $38,000,000 to develop recreational trails, construct new community park facilities, improve existing parks and athletic courts, construct an outdoor ice sheet at Hasse Arena, and make improvements to arts and environmental learning centers? BY VOTING "YES" ON THIS BALLOT QUESTION, YOU ARE VOTING FOR A PROPERTY TAX INCREASE.

There is also a question related to expanding the Lakeville School Board. Currently, the Lakeville School Board has six members. Lakeville residents will be asked if they want to expand it to seven:

Shall the school board of Independent School District No. 194 consist of seven members?
