Kopecko allegedly hired the man, an independent contractor, to move the items on Aug. 8, 2012. At that time, she reportedly told the man that her wallet and personal information has been stolen and that she could not pay him. However, she wrote him a check for $720 and asked him not to cash it right away.
When contacted by the man a few weeks later, Kopecko allegedly made excuses as to why the check could not be cashed. Roughly six weeks after the check was written, Kopecko reportedly stopped communicating with the man. He then attempted to cash the check, but was told that the account on which the check was drafted did not contain sufficient funds.

He had not be paid as of Nov. 10, according to the summons.
