North, South Swimming And Diving Teams Wrap Up Season At State

Panthers, Cougars place 10th and 11th, respectively, at Class AA championship meet.

The Lakeville North and South boys swimming and diving teams finished off their 2010-11 campaigns by taking 10th and 11th, respectively, at the Class AA state championship meet on Saturday night at the University of Minnesota Aquatics Center.

The Panthers claimed 77 points on the evening, while the Cougars logged 72 points to finish back-to-back in the team standings after competing in five of 12 championship heats combined on the evening.

South junior Jake Swanson earned Lakeville's top individual finish with a sixth-place turn in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 53.12, while teammate and classmate Even Ostendorf came in eighth in 1-meter diving with an 11-dive score of 356.35.

North junior Tim Mitchell placed seventh in the 200-yard individual medley in 2 minutes, .49 seconds as the Panthers' lone individual championship-heat representative.

One relay team from each school made a trip to the medal stand as the North 200-yard medley relay quartet of Ryan Young, Jake Tempesta, Hunter Burchfield and Mitchell placed seventh in 1:40.37 and the South 200-yard medley foursome of Jake Swanson, Ben Kosieradzki, Mitch Kosieradzki and Anton Knack took eighth in 1:28.81.
