Panthers, Cougars Inch Closer To Postseason

Lakeville teams beginning to see the end of the regular season in their sights.

The spring sports campaign pushed closer to its conclusion as Lakeville North and South teams continued to jostle for preferred sectional seeding.

North Vs. South Boys Lacrosse: Panthers 10, Cougars 2

North defeated South in the Lakeville rivalry boys lacrosse game on Friday night to boost the Panthers record to 4-3 overall and 2-3 in the South Suburban Conference and drop the Cougars to 2-4 all told and 1-3 in the circuit.

Sam Larson scored three times for North, with teammates Jack Hughes and Tyler Schermann each logging two tallies apiece; Aaren Larsen scored both goals for South.

North Vs. South Girls Lacrosse: Panthers 16, Cougars 10

North girls lacrosse claimed in-town bragging rights with a 16-10 defeat of South on Thursday.

Hannah Koloski and Kacie Waagbo tied for the Panthers scoring lead with four goals apiece, with teammate Lauren Storhoff netting three goals; Kelly Gustafson, Abby Quinnell, Lauren Marshall and Logan Halvorson each scored twice for the Cougars.

North improved to 6-2 this spring with the victory, while Thursday's loss combined with an 18-10 setback to Bloomington Kennedy on Saturday to drop South to 3-5 this season. 

North Boys Golf: Panthers Win Dakota County Invitational

Bobby Thomas carded a 2-under-par 71 to claim medalist honors and lead the North boys golf team to a score of 293 and the title in the Dakota County Invitational at Emerald Greens Golf Course on Saturday.

North Girls Golf: Panthers Seventh At Northfield Inviatational

The North girls golf team finished seventh in the Northfield Invitational with a score of 386 at Willingers Golf Course on Thursday. Individual results were not available.

North Baseball: Panthers 7, Rosemount 2

A 7-2 defeat of Rosemount on Monday kept the North baseball team in the top three in the South Suburban Conference (SSC) standings after the Panthers won one and lost one in the Owatonna Tournament on Saturday.

Austin Streit went 3-for-4 with four runs batted in and a home run in the Irish victory.

North is currently 9-7 overall and 8-5 in the SSC.

North Softball: Panthers Host, Finish Second In Tournament

The North softball team went 2-1 in its Panther Showcase on Saturday to up its record to 6-9 on the season.

After defeating Farmington (8-0) in the opener and East Ridge (4-2) in the semifinals, the Panthers lost 7-3 to Wayzata to take runner-up honors.

Individual statistics were not made available. North had previously lost to Eagan, 4-2, on Thursday to drop its SSC record to 3-7 this spring.

North Boys Tennis: Panthers Drop Two 

The North boys tennis team lost 6-1 to Red Wing on Friday and 4-3 to Rosemount on Monday. Individual statistics were not made available.

South Softball: Cougars Third In Panther Showcase

With two wins and one loss, the South softball team finished third in North's Panther Showcase on Saturday.

The Cougars defeated St. Francis 7-3 in the opener, lost 3-2 to Wayzata in the semifinals and topped East Ridge 5-0 in the third-place game.

Kendall Palfi leads South with a .415 batting average, while Lindsey Kamleitner paces the squad with 14 runs batted in and 13 runs scored. Palfi also holds a 9-4 record off the pitching rubber with a 2.28 earned run average and 73 strikeouts.

The Cougars dropped a SSC matchup at Eastview, 5-4, on Monday to drop to 9-6 overall and 6-5 in circuit play.

South Baseball: Cougars Fall To 5-9

A 6-5 loss to Bloomington Jefferson on Monday dropped the Lakeville South baseball team to 5-9 overall and 3-9 in the Lake this spring.

Individual statistics were not made available. The Cougars lost to Bloomington Kennedy (2-1) on Friday and defeated North St. Paul (3-1) on Saturday.

South Boys Tennis: Prior lake 5, Cougars 2

The South boys tennis team lost 5-2 to Prior Lake on Monday. Individual statistics were not made available.
