Prairie Worknight at Sand Coulee SNA

With its tall grass and wildflowers, the Sand Coulee SNA offers a rare kind of beauty. Less than one percent of native prairie remains in Minnesota, making the Sand Coulee much-needed habitat for the 14 rare plant and animal species that call it home.

After six years of diligent work done by volunteers, our patience is paying off and invasive knapweed is much reduced in the prairie! At this worknight, volunteers will partner with Friends of the Mississippi River Restoration Ecologist Karen Schik to continue to halting the spread of spotted knapweed, as well as cow vetch, which both pose a threat to the health of this important area.

Capacity is limited and registration is required.
