Remember to Change Your Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detector Batteries When Changing the Clocks Forward
The Lakeville Fire Department responded to 11 calls for service the week of Feb. 20 through Feb. 27.

Daylight savings time is a good time to replace smoke detector and carbon monoxide batteries. To keep your family safe from fire, remember and make use of the following tips:
- Every month, test your smoke alarms by pushing the “test” button. Follow testing instructions in your owner’s manual.
- Once a month, carefully vacuum the inside of a batter-powered unit using a soft bristle brush. If your alarms are electrically connected, turn off the power and vacuum the outside vents only. Test your alarms after cleaning them.
- Smoke alarms don’t last forever. Those more than 10 years old should be replaced.
On March 13, change your clock, and change your batteries. It could save a life.
