Spring Season Enters Second Month For Lakeville Teams

North, South squads kick off May competitions on Monday.

Lakeville area sports teams entered the second month of the spring sports season with hopes for not only more victories, but better weather.

North Baseball: Panthers 11, Jefferson 10

The Lakeville North baseball team claimed an 11-10, eight-inning win over visiting Bloomington Jefferson on Monday night to improve to 7-4 overall and 7-3 in the South Suburban Conference.

Austin Streit led the Panthers with three runs batted in on a 4-for-5 day at the plate, with Alex Hanneman driving in two runs while going 3-for-5.

Bret Piekarski earned the win in relief of starting pitcher A.J. Moore, who had four strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings of work.

North travels to South Suburban leader Burnsville on Wednesday for a 4:15 p.m. game.

South Baseball: Prior Lake 11, Cougars 4

An 11-4 loss to visiting Prior Lake on Monday night dropped the Lakeville South baseball team to 4-6 overall and 3-6 in the conference.

Individual results were not available. The Cougars travel to Eastview for a 4:15 p.m. game on Wednesday.

North Softball: Kennedy 6, Panthers 5

The North softball team fell, 6-5, in nine innings to visiting Bloomington Kennedy on Monday evening to fall to 4-5 overall and 3-4 in the South Suburban.

Individual results were not available. The Panthers travel to Eagan for a 4:15 p.m. matchup on Thursday.

South Softball: Cougars 6, Eagan 5

A 6-5 win over visiting Eagan on Monday night improved the South softball team to 6-4 overall and 5-4 in the conference.

Kendall Palfi pitched a complete game victory, allowing four earned runs while striking out six batters; Lindsey Kamleiter drive in two runs with a double, while Molly Olson went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

The Cougars host Prior Lake on Wednesday at 4:15 p.m.

North Boys Tennis: Shakopee 4, Panthers 3

The North boys tennis team lost at Shakopee, 4-3, in a non-conference match on Monday afternoon. Individual results were not available.

A golf tournament at Olympic Hills Golf Course featuring both Lakeville North and South on Monday was cancelled.
